SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents have the right to be treated with respect by teachers, staff and the administration.

Parents will respect each member of the school community and encourage their children to do the same.  Parents will support teachers in their efforts to discipline their children.

Students will show respect for themselves, their peers, their school, and the school community.

The school will foster an atmosphere of respect for each member of the school community and will make every effort to communicate with all parents in compliance with the Board's translation policy.

Parents have the right to receive program and support services that enable their children to achieve their full potential.

Parents will alert the school of any special needs their children may have and will seek appropriate help for those needs at the school level.  Parents are responsible for understanding the goals of those services provided for their children.

Students have the responsibility to attend and participate fully in programs provided for them.  Students must come prepared for class participation and have required items available.

The school will provide information regarding program and support services, identify students in need of such services and provide services to those students.

Parents have the right to a free, public school education for their children.

Parents will send their children to school on time, well rested and prepared to learn.

Students will attend school regularly, arrive on time, be appropriately dressed and have their completed homework assignments and other necessary materials.

The school will provide an academic program that supports high expectations for students.

Parents have the right to communicate with teachers regarding issues of children's performance and progress and to request meetings to discuss children's progress.  Parents may contact the school anytime to arrange a conference or talk to a specific teacher or attend class with the student.

Parents will ensure satisfactory completion of homework assignments and will arrange a quiet time and place where their children may attend to their responsibilities.  Parents will monitor homework assignments daily.  Parents will continue the learning process at home to subsidize teachers' efforts.

Students will seek assistance (before, during, and/or after school) when they have problems with their schoolwork/homework.

Students will let their administration know when there is a problem.

The school will communicate expectations regarding student performance and progress as well as important school policies including the schools' homework policy.
