Metter JROTC Raider Team Qualifies for State Meet

The Metter JROTC Raider Team qualified for the State Raider Meet last Saturday in Jenkins County by finishing as the Area Nine Region Champions in the Mixed Team Category.

The Mixed Team Category is consisted of six males and four females who compete in five different Raider events. The events include a physical fitness test, a team run, a cross country rescue event, One Rope Bridge and a First Aid Academic Test.

MHS Raiders placed first in three of the five events, the physical fitness test, the team run and the cross country rescue event.

Metter Raiders, led by senior captains Cadet LTC Ja'Sannea Brown and Command SGT MAJ Kyler Gregory plan on continuing to practice hard, working topgether as a team to prepare for the state meet.

This year's team consists of hard working Raiders who plan on delivering by being S2 (Silent but Strong).

The MHS Raiders include Jose Martinez, Isabel Talamentes Ruiz, Stephanie Perez, Julio Salazar, Dylan Sapp, Miguel Bautista, Eric Armstrong, Kyler Gregory and Ja'Sannea Brown., Ashley Wilkerson, Virginia Anderson, Savannah Ferrell, Alicia Kelly, Thomas Green, Eric Vilches, Roger Coronado, and Jacob Boren.

JROTC Senior Army Instructor, LTC. Terry Hoyt stated, "I truly believe in this year's Raider team. They have demonstrated outstanding results this year in every meet and stood out tremendously among other teams."

"Teamwork is the key to their success." he continued, "and I believe that our Raider team has the potential to do remarkable things at the state meet and place in the top five."

The Metter JROTC Raider team will be back in action on the 13th of October in Statesboro, Georgia at Statesboro High School.
