Monday, February 06, 2012

Stacy McCranie has been named Candler County’s Program for Exceptional Children Teacher of the Year. McCranie started in the PIP classroom part-time and then moved to full-time for several years. She is now in the severe-profound classroom. “From part-time to full-time to a teacher mentor, Stacy has demonstrated the advancement of educational skills and the love of children that all teachers should possess,” said Parent Mentor Carol Smith in nominating McCranie for the honor. “She does not let the pressure of having a challenging classroom ever show. “Stacy has taught and encouraged her children to develop skills beyond what most thought they could achieve. She makes sure that her children are included in activity classes and classrooms with other children. Stacy also works well with all staff and especially her special ed team.” McCranie has been voted WTOC Teacher of the Week for her excellence with special needs children.
